About the author.

Hello, my name is Jeremy Jefferson. I am currently a full-time student at ITT-Tech in Fort Wayne Indiana. I am 22 years old and live in Larwill, Indiana.

I graduated early from Whitko High School in 2005. In high school I was active in school publication. I worked on the yearbook all four years and also did the school website for a couple years.

Currently I am working towards a networking degree from ITT-Tech. My goal is to get a career in computer networking. Ideally I would love to get a job working as the IT administrator for a school.

Here is some pictures and descriptions of my home network setup.

Here is my home network. It consists of a Fedora Core 4 Server station (computer with monitor), DSL Modem, Linksys 54G Router, Network Link, Network Storage drive, and two power strips supplying power and surge protection.

These are two backup servers sitting in a corner waiting to be deployed if needed.

This is the Fedora Core 4 server. It currenty has no purpose but will have many once I get it setup. This server will be controlled mainly via SSH and VNC by my main desktop PC. It has the ability to connect to the network through both wireless and ethernet connections. May eventually serve major network functions such as DNS.

This is the what makes my network go. Left to right: router+modem power strip, network storage harddrive, router, network server powerstrip, modem, network server. The network server here is currently the main server for the network providing network storage and serving the network site. It also runs many other little things that I have put on it (that do not directly infulence the network). The router here currently serves 3 wireless clients and 3 wired.

This is a closet between the now network room and my room. This is where the DSL is filtered and each cable is directed its way. The two boxes on the wires are a splitter and a filter.

This is the other closet (on the other side) between my room and the network room. As you can see it has a backup monitor waiting to be deployed in case any of the 6 computers in our network has its monitor fail. The red wire is the ethernet cable running to my main desktop computer which is located on the other side of that wall.

This is the network printer. The network server in the network room controls this printer. The USB cable for it runs inside the first closet shown above. Beside it is my small DVD collection.
